George Herbert Walker IV, the cousin of George W. Bush, has sold an apartment at 45 Greene Street for $8.63 million, according to city records.
The second cousin of the former president, Walker is currently the chairman and CEO of Neuberger Berman, a financial services firm that was sold by Lehman Brothers in the wake of its bankruptcy. Walker was previously global head of Lehman’s investment management, which included Neuberger. Prior to that, he was a partner at Goldman Sachs.
The buyer of the apartment, Unit #6, was listed as 45 Greene PH LLC.
Attorney Evan Maron of Morrison Cohen LLP, who represented the buyer, said there were no real estate brokers involved in the deal. He declined to comment further on the buyer’s identity.
According to PropertyShark, Walker purchased the unit in October 1999 from Chiarastella Gobetti, who had previously purchased the unit for $1.2 million in January 1999.
Walker purchased a 7,000 s/f townhouse at 6 East 10th Street for $13.95 million in 2008, according to The Real Deal.
