Kondylis retained to design 62 Wooster Street

Billionaire Jeff Greene has retained Costas Kondylis to renovate a six-story building at 62 Wooster Street in a revived condo plan. As Real Estate Weekly reported in April, Greene’s Sunshine Investments purchased the building in a foreclosure auction for $26.27 million, after the previous owners, Trinity Development Group and Stillwater Capital, ran into financial trouble.

Managers react as quake strikes

It took less than two minutes for the 5.9 earthquake in Mineral, Va. to be felt hundreds of miles away in New York City. And only minutes later, building teams across the city had already sprung into action. The Building Owners & Managers Association of NY today detailed how their members reacted.

Earthquake rattles New Yorkers

New York buildings felt the tremor of a 5.8 magnitude earthquake that struck near Richmond, Virginia yesterday afternoon. Workers at City Hall evacuated and court officers shepherded people out of the federal court house. Building supervisors at 20 West 22nd Street went office-to-office telling tenants to be prepared to evacuate in the event there were further tremors following the earthquake shortly after 2 p.m. “It was a pretty weird feeling,” said one office worker there. “I could feel the building sway, like the wind was blowing it.” The earthquake comes just two months after Real Estate Weekly exclusively reported that some experts were warning New York City was well overdue for the phenomenon.
