Manhattan-based commercial real estate owner Hidrock Realty is planning a new hotel a block from the World Trade Center site.
Hidrock, in a joint venture with Robert Finvarb Companies, paid $27.9 million for the vacant lot at 133 Greenwich Street.
The partners plan to spend an additional $70 million to develop a 28-floor, 300-room hotel which will serve the booming tourism industry in Downtown Manhattan. The hotel is slated to open in early 2015.

Construction is underway on the world’s tallest Holiday Inn — a 50-story, 400-room full-service hotel at 99 Washington Street.

A series of game-changers, including super-sized incentives, are helping boost the economic development of the Garden State, members of IOREBA heard last week.
The group discussed programs such as an adaptive re-use incentive which allowed Ivy Realty to keep healthcare conglomerate Novo Nordisk in the state.
And when the Realogy company was ready to up-sticks and move its 1,300 employees to North Carolina, The Hampshire Companies employed the “Choose NJ” program to work out a deal that will keep the company in the Garden State.
“Before, it was just ‘no,’” said Hampshire’s Todd Anderson. “Now the administration is actually working with you and giving you options and ideas to work with various situations.”

Q. I see that the proposed legislation to limit the size and type of retails stores on the Upper Westside is being proposed in other community board districts. Do you believe that this legislation will pass and, if so, how widespread to you think it will be?
A. I wrote about this proposed legislation a few weeks ago and, yes, the community board on the Upper West Side has approved legislation which will limit the frontage and square footage of certain types of retail businesses.

The SoHo Apple store at 103 Prince Street is set to expand following a $20 million renovation.
The 30,000 s/f building in the SoHo Historic District was originally renovated in 2001 to utilize only about half of the maximum floor space available.
Apple took over the ground floor space at the rear of the property that was previously operated by the U.S. Postal Service, but was emptied in 2009.
In 2011, the building was acquired by Imperium Capital.

A team from Besen & Associates has closed on a block-busting North Bronx deal.
Amit Doshi, Lynda Blumberg, and Ronnie Shaban negotiated the $8.75 million sale of 2150 Wallace Avenue, an elevatored apartment building with 71 units and five stores near Morris Park and the Pelham Parkway subway station.
A 1920s six-story brick building, the apartments range from studios to two-bedroom units.
According to Doshi, executive director at Besen, the deal works out at $115,000 per unit, among the highest prices achieved in the North Bronx in recent years and indicative …
