JEMB Realty to buy Daffy’s real estate

Affiliates of JEMB Realty Corporation have agreed to purchase the real estate interests of the struggling discount retailer Daffy’s, the company announced Thursday.

“JEMB Realty Corporation is looking forward to capitalizing on its long-term experience and knowledge in the greater New York area and to have the opportunity to work with Daffy’s with respect to the orderly wind up of Daffy’s operations and to provide payment in full to all of Daffy’s creditors,” Morris Bailey, CEO of JEMB Realty, said in a statement.

Daffy’s filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the Southern District of New York Wednesday.

Trading co. takes floor at Savanna’s Madison Square Park building

Jump Trading, a privately funded algorithmic trading firm, has leased 19,280 s/f at Savanna’s 15 East 26th Street.

The company will occupy a full floor of the building that sits on the edge of Madison Square Park in the tight Midtown South office market.
“We are very excited to welcome Jump Trading to our building, and we believe this is an ideal location for their first New York City office,” said Andrew Kurd, an associate of Savanna which bought the eight story commercial condo earlier this year and is positioning it as one of the premier office buildings in the neighborhood with a $9 million capital improvement package.
Mitchell Konsker, Matthew Astrachan, Matthew Polhemus and Brittany Wunsch of Jones Lang LaSalle represented Savanna in the Jump Trading deal while Gilbert L. Ohls, Matt Felice and Matt Carolan of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the tenant.

More than 400 real estate professionals gathered recently at The Centurion® luxury condominium, located at 33 West 56th Street, to celebrate the start of summer with an island-themed party on one of the largest terraces available in Midtown Manhattan. The terrace is connected to a 1,482-square-foot two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath residence, listed at $3.8 million, that offers as much square footage outdoors as indoors.

Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty has acquired Coldwell Banker Claire Sobel Real Estate of Roslyn. The Clare Sobel name has been part of the North Shore real estate scene for over half a century.
Roy Sobel will continue to run the agency office at 27 Powerhouse Road the Daniel Gale Sotheby’s name. Daniel Gale Sotheby’s will also retain its other Roslyn office at 1400 Old Northern Boulevard, said Patricia Petersen, CEO. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Dermot Company just announced that leasing has started at Arabella 101, a new rental building at 101 Avenue D in the East Village.
 
The 12-story building, designed by Cutsogeorge Tooman & Allen Architects, offers 78 affordable and market-rate rental apartments and is on track to receive LEED gold certification.
