The Downtown Alliance is launching Lower Manhattan: Back to Business Small Business Grant Program to support retailers, restaurants and service providers affected by Hurricane Sandy, and unveiling a multi-pronged Holiday Shopping campaign to promote neighborhood business, a key to Lower Manhattan’s success as a world-class business address.

Heller Industrial Parks, one of the nation’s largest privately held owners and developers of industrial real estate, today announced that the company donated 200,000 square feet of warehouse space at Heller Industrial park in Somerset to the American Red Cross for 90 days, rent free.

Douglas Elliman drops the Pru’

New York real estate brokerage Douglas Elliman is unveiling a new brand identity and returning to its original name.

Effective immediately, the Douglas Elliman name will be adopted by all of the company’s businesses including residential and commercial real estate, title services, relocation services, property management, as well as the firm’s Development Marketing division.

The decision to drop Prudential from it’s name comes after Prudential Financial sold its real estate and relocation business to Brookfield Residential Property Services for $110 million last December.

Global group names Brooke Barrett Female Executive of the Year

Brooke Denihan Barrett, co-CEO of Denihan Hospitality Group, was honored as Female Executive of the Year at the 2012 Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

Announced at an awards dinner held in New York on Friday, November 9, Barrett was chosen as the gold trophy winner out of a total of 1,200 global applicants across a range of industries.

Barrett is the only woman in New York City — and one of only a handful in the world — to own and run a hotel investment and management company.
